.“Only art penetrates … the seeming realities of this world. There is another reality,
the genuine one, which we lose sight of. This other reality is always sending us hints, which without art, we can’t receive.”
-- Saul Bellow asserted in his Nobel Prize acceptance speech.
What a privilege it is to paint!
Inspiration comes to me from travelling – Arizona, Oregon, Cape Cod, Italy, Israel –
from my flower gardens and from the particular magic of the changing seasons.
I have always been inspired by art.
For years, I expressed my longing to create art through flower arranging
and knitting, and even cake decorating.
In 1995, I discovered that I could paint!
Inspired by an accomplished watercolourist friend, I just started to experiment.
My early work was of ocean shores and scenes of Cape Cod.
Since then, I have explored acrylics and am now painting in oils.
While I enjoyed my early explorations of watercolour,
the richness of colour and texture found in oils and acrylics expresses best
the richness of life that I see in the world around me.
I received my Certificate of Fine Arts from St. Lawrence College.
My paintings are now exhibited locally and in Calgary, Cape Cod, Texas,
Gatineau Quebec, and Morocco.
