Painting begins with a longing to create something, to take a fresh look at a subject, to work in a way not immobilized by old attitudes. Watermedia Painting is a physical process, communicating feelings and insights with water and colour. I apply watercolours, gouache, fluid acrylics, watercolour crayons and pencils, and clean water. My brushes vary--2 inch Sky flow wash to 0 Sable. My process of painting involves an analysis of first efforts, a kind of dialogue with what I see. Building up the image, trusting the way I feel called to work. Sometimes reversing, turning upside down, examining in a mirror, setting it aside. Later making changes to strengthen the image, leaving places for the viewer to breathe more deeply, where eyes rest. Acknowledging that the painting has stopped in interesting places, it is ready to hang. Graduated: Wilfrid Laurier University, University of Waterloo, The Emmanuel College of The University of Toronto Art Courses: Sheridan College Fine Arts, Dundas Valley School of Art, Sir Sanford Fleming College, Nova Scotia Community College. Formative Workshops: Vicky Weir, Maureen Casteller, Brigitte Schreyer, Linda Kemp, Tom Ward. My process is guided by 30 years of lessons and workshops, art shows and sales; daily meditating with the Creator. Here are some of my paintings.
