About Us

Established in 1991, the South Grenville Guild of Fine Art currently has 16 members who pursue their interests in painting (oils, watercolour, acrylics, pastels, collage and mixed media); encaustic and photography.  Its mission is three-fold:
(a) To foster the appreciation and development of visual art in South Grenville, emphasizing original and proprietary works of high quality.
(b) To provide a medium for members to exchange views, ideas and interests, to develop their skills and techniques further, and to socialize.
(c)  To jointly plan and undertake various kinds of events to provide a forum for, and to encourage the creation, exhibition and sale of art works by Guild members.

The Guild meets  on the third Tuesday of each month, September to June, with a brief summer recess.   After 30 years exhibiting at the MERC hall in Maitland, the Guild currently holds its premier exhibition in spring at Prescott's Royal Canadian Legion , and would  also exhibit  in venues around Prescott.   Past years saw exhibits in Merrickville, Spencerville, the Brockville Arts Centre, the Brockville Public Library  and  Cornwall.   Permanent galleries  of Guild works may be viewed at the Prescott Public Library and at the Augusta Public Library in Algonquin.

In 2019/20, the Guild partnered with the St Lawrence Shakespeare Festival to mount ongoing exhibits at its Gallery 206.

Every year, before its spring show, the Guild donates  an art book to a local library in the South Grenville area.  Prescott, Augusta, Edwardsburgh and Cardinal, as well as the South Grenville District High School have benefitted from this initiative.   Guild members  also participate in charity benefits, donating their work  for  worthy causes.

The Guild welcomes new members.  An application form is available on the drop-down page under Contact.
