Art is in everything around us, if we just look...and the light is right!
I grew up in a creative family, with both mother and grandmother being very proficient with a sewing machine. I was using my mother's machine to make Barbie doll clothes by the age of 13. At some point, after I had left home in Montreal, my mother decided to learn to paint and did it very well. Thinking of that now, even though being an artist had not been something I had really considered...it was in the genes!
At a young age, my parents brought us from Scotland to live in Montreal. We made return trips to visit family over the years and these early trips led to the love of travel in later years. Often to sunnier destinations and warm beaches but also a return trip to Scotland - with a camera, to capture places that until then had only been memories. I discovered a love of oceans, waves and nature and that has continued everywhere I have lived or visited and is what I strive to show in my paintings...to pay homage to the wonders all around us!
