Elaine McCurdie is a multi-media artist who enjoys drawing, painting, assemblage art, sculpture, photography, and printmaking. Born and raised in Northern Ontario, Elaine began drawing at an early age, especially animals, and would even find a way to incorporate her art into her other class assignments. After raising her family, Elaine left her career in 2015 and moved to Prescott, Ontario in order to pursue the Visual and Creative Arts – Fine Arts program at St. Lawrence College in Brockville. In September of 2017, she will venture over to Ireland to study at the University in Sligo to obtain her degree in Fine Art. Inspired by her own surroundings, nature, and other things near and dear to her, Elaine tries to capture a hint of something from her everyday life. She has admired the work of such artists such as Terry Isaac, Carl Brenders, Edward Spera, Chuck Close, Diego Velazquez and the Group of Seven. Elaine presently creates in a wide range of mediums, from watercolour and oils, to acrylic and mixed media. Though she enjoys a variety of subject matter, Elaine always creates with an emphasis on fine detail and realism. Her portfolio includes a lot of artistic exploration comprising of private and commercial commissions, murals, animals and everyday stuff that inspires her.
