MARILYN RAMASRA WHITE |

|
Marilyn's non-objective collages are spontaneous expressions of creative harmony. Unlike her figurative works which respond to objective forms, her non-objective works express an unrehearsed coming together of paper, paint, & other bits & pieces - an almost mindless process in its early stages. One might say that it creates Being from Nothingness [to paraphrase existentialist Jean-Paul Sartre]. Collectors of this genre of art can be said to connect with the artist on an instinctual level - a sort of tacit meeting of minds. Marilyn holds a Fine Arts certificate with distinction from St Lawrence College, as well as BA & BLS degrees from the University of Toronto. Her life in art followed a career as a professional librarian at several universities & at the Legislative Library, Toronto. She twice served as president of the South Grenville Guild of Fine Art, and exhibits locally with the Guild, the SLC Fine Arts Alumni's Brockville Chapter, and the Seaway Autumn Studio Tour. She has also been represented in several regional galleries, and has had solo exhibitions elsewhere, notably in Toronto. Her paintings are in private collections around the world. Her other passions include music, theatre and gardening
