Thecla Kluck

back

Thecla first laid her hands on sculpting in 1985 when she started taking lessons. This lead to 15 years of studying the art of creating shapes, curves and forms. In September 1998, Thecla and her husband Herman, and their four children immigrated to Canada from Holland. Here she found space, adventure and inspiration for her sculpting, and a good future for her children. In keeping with their artisan background, Thecla and Herman started a new business, The Dutch Hill, offering sculpting and other creative endeavors.

Meanwhile Thecla discovered a new medium from Holland called Paverpol. This textile hardener is an environmentally friendly fluid used to make fabric rock hard. It is weather-proof and frost-proof - perfect for artists and hobbyists! This new medium allows her complete freedom of expression to create wonderfully graceful garden statues that are draped in flowing fabric, and have an individuality and presence all their own. As Paverpol dries quickly, you can make a statue in only one day.

Today Thecla and Herman are certified Paverpol teachers and offer workshops in Spencerville at The Dutch Hill Studio and at ArtScene Gallery. Their popular workshops are a venue for participants to learn about Paverpol and express their artistic side by creating their own statue in a relaxed and friendly environment.

The Dutch Hill is now a Paverpol distributor. Paverpol products are available at their studio in Spencerville or can be ordered online.
