Christel was born and educated in Berlin, Germany. She started her profession as an apprentice studying gold and silversmithing for 3 ½ years. With her trade experiences and attending the TechnicalCollegeand ArtSchool, (Handwerkskammer Berlin) , she graduated as a Master Gold and Silversmith in June, 1964 in Berlin. Christel immigrated to Canadain 1966. She has mainly worked in handmade Jewellery for 3 Companies in Toronto. In 1968 she joined George – Brown College of Applied Arts and Technology in Toronto. She was employed as fulltime and part time teaching professor and subject coordinator, teaching gold and silversmithing, gemmology and the related subjects. Her commitment to Jewellery , design and gemmology was always very strong. She has designed and fabricated numerous pieces of original work, which has been shown Nationally and Internationally, many of them have received Awards for design and craftsmanship. Christel has facilitated several workshops , teaching a variety of topics across Canada. She has created works for public and private collections. Christel moved from Torontoto Brockvilleafter a teaching career of 30 years. She operates her home type studio for the last 6 years. Her work was exhibited at several Studio Tours in the 1000 Island Area and has been seen at the Lafreniere & Pai Gallery in Ottawaas well.
