              Audrey Bain is a “plein aire” painter in oils and acrylics. Her works are varied and reflect her response to family ties, social concerns, scenes of nature, images of rural Ontario and the Canadian landscape.

                Audrey was Gallery Director for the Cornwall Regional Art Gallery from 1983 to 1992. She has retired and is working to further develop her art.  She shares the operation of Winddrift Gallery and Studio with her artist husband Alan. In the 70’s Audrey taught part-time classes for St. Lawrence College Cornwall.

                In 1954-55 Audrey was granted a two-year scholarship to Nova Scotia College of Art. Audrey graduated from St. Lawrence College, Cornwall,

                                               Diploma in Visual and Creative Arts

                                                    (WITH DISTINCTION) in 1982. 

                 Audrey studied with Robin Wall, printmaker, Jack Reid, C.S.P.W.C.,  Danis Meizajs,O.C.A., Robert Hyndman, Larry Halpin. At the Schneider School of Fine Arts she studied painting with Alexander Millar. Earlier studies were with Owen Chicquin, teacher Montreal Museum of Fine Arts.

                Audrey also studied portraiture at the Sadie Bronfman, life drawing Ottawa School of Art, and at Thousand Islands Summer School of Art, Brockville. She studied life drawing with Andrea Green at St. Lawrence College, Brockville. And has recently attended workshops with Carol Barnes and Douglas Purdon

                Audrey has participated in numerous exhibitions; solo, group, joint and juried exhibitions. From 1968 to the present she has exhibited on a regular basis. Some of the highlight exhibitions were:  

   1968, 1969 - Group Exhibition, St. Hilaire Women Painters.

   1975 - 81 Morrisburg and District Arts and Crafts, Group Show. (Founding Member)

   1978    Penny Cole Leukemia Invitational Exhibition, Beaconsfield, P.Q.

   1979, 1980 - I.O.D.E. Invitational, Brockville

   1982 - Solo Exhibition, Moulinette Gallery, St. Lawrence College,  Cornwall

   1988 - Juried Exhibition Tom Thomson Memorial Gallery

   1994 - Two person exhibition, Cornwall Regional Art Gallery.

   1997 - CIVA International Juried Exhibition (Christians in the Visual Arts)

        (Audrey’s painting Easter Sunday Warrior, was chosen among 44 from 200 entries

          from across North America and Australia)               

   1999 - Belleville Public Library Gallery (Joint with Alan Bain)

   2000 - CRAG Juried exhibition, Cornwall

   Since 2000 Audrey has participated in regular yearly juried and group exhibitions with SGGOFA,

            VAGA,  OWS and Ottawa Art Lending.
